In this episode of The Vegetable Gardening Show

In this episode of the Vegetable Gardening show, Mike chats with The Impatient Gardener's Erin Schanen about how gardening is not as hard as or complicated as you or others might lead you to believe.

Erin is going to tell us about her journey from growing in containers in an apartment to today where she gardens on nearly an acre of land growing everything from edibles to flowers and anything in between.

She'll break down for us why so many stop gardening before they even get started gardening and how to overcome that.  She'll also tell us about how she started blogging her gardening adventures on her website The Impatient Gardener and how that has helped so many people break through and start gardening.

This and so much more on this episode of The Vegetable Gardening Show!

About this episode's guest, Erin Schanen

I’ve been blogging since 2009, offering garden inspiration and information for everyday gardeners, as well as a bit of DIY (and hilarity often ensues). My goal is to help gardeners of all skill levels love their gardens more and to become better gardeners.

I started gardening as a toddler, or so the photos in my parents’ albums would have me believe, but didn’t really pick it up again until after college. When I had filled an apartment patio so full of plants that walking on it was no longer an option, we found a house with enough room for a garden. And it turned out there was room for several gardens! I’ve been battling weeds and deer there for 15 years, creating and recreating gardens around the 1.3-acre property and sharing the lessons and beauty I find there on The Impatient Gardener. Along the line I became a master gardener and I love to continue to learn more about gardening every day.

The Impatient Gardener has been featured on Houzz, in Birds and Blooms magazine and on the Young House Love blog, as well as being named one of the top gardening blogs by Lawn Starter and one of Toolversed’s top 10 bloggers.

In addition to The Impatient Gardener, I also some freelance pieces, which have appeared in Luxury Magazine, the Ozaukee Press and other publications. I’m also a member of Proven Winners’ Garden Gurus blog team.

I am also available to speak to groups on a variety of fun and interesting gardening topics (no boring topics may apply).
