Did you know that 70% of food pantries in America are located within a place of worship?

In this episode of the Vegetable Gardening show, Mike chats with Gary Oppenheimer, the founder of AmpleHarvest.org about a program that he started in 2016.  This new program called, Food Waste Weekend, was setup to connect the food pantries within those places of worship with the home vegetable gardeners that are already a part of that place of worship's congregation.

So how does he do it?  By getting the heads of the places of worship to focus their message during Food Waste Weekend on ending hunger in their communities.

Food waste weekend is September 8th, 9th & 10th in 2017.  If you are watching this video after this date and in subsequent years, it is held in the 2nd weekend of September every year.

Here's what we'll cover in this episode of The Vegetable Gardening Show
